Our Staff picks for doing Dublin on €25 a day
We know our hostellers like to get as much bang for their buck as possible when in DUBLIN , So we asked our trusty team here in Jacobs Inn (who have amazing insider knowledge on Dublin ) on what THEY would do if they had just €25 to spend for the Day in Dublin as a tourist . First up here is Martina’s suggested 24 hours In Dublin with dinner included!! PS She is particular about coffee!!
After you leave the hostel and before you are really ready to embrace the world your first stop has to be for the best coffee in Dublin. Twisted Pepper is imperative to start your heart and your day (€3). Then head towards Smithfield where you can get a mini Irish breakfast and a coffee at Third Space (€5) Great space with a huge bookshelf, this is a place you can take the time to chill out and plan the rest of your day.
After Brunch jump on the Luas just near the cafe and head to the Kilmainham Goal for an impressive cultural 2 hours of a small entry fee (€6 Adult, €2 student).
Then head back to Smithfield from there you have 2 good options. You can whet your whistle at the Jameson Distillery or head across the road for an afternoon movie at the Lighthouse Cinema (€8) Great selection of independent movies or main stream. Alcoholic beverages available too don’t worry!!
Start heading back to the hostel, it is close to dinner time. Do you want a good dinner at fast food prices? Across the road from Twisted Pepper where you started your day is a place called Govinda’s its vegetarian and all healthy options. One ‘small’ plate (piled to the sky, defying gravity) is well worth (€5.50) don’t twinge at the idea of vegetarian food, I’m primarily a carnivore myself…I understand. But I still insist you do it.
So to round up the day….how many crucial boxes did we tick? Caffeine Hit check…Hearty Breakfast check…Cultural experience check…Mid-afternoon tipple check…Lazy afternoon movie check…your 5 a day veg quota check…You still come under budget at €23.50, now with 3 other friends ,chip in on a bottle of red , borrow some Board games from reception or pop to our sister Hostel Isaacs around the corner for a Free Sauna!
